Young is situated in the South West Slopes region of New South Wales and is commonly referred to as the ‘Cherry Capital of Australia’. The town was first settled in 1826 and has grown from a humble sheep station into a thriving regional centre.
Parking is available at Young Showground, located on Boorowa-Murringo Road, where self-contained vehicles are welcome to stay free of charge. To have access to power, additional fees apply, and bookings must be made with showground secretary prior to arrival for this. Conveniently, a dump point and potable water is also located here.
The South West Slopes of NSW is renowned for its quality cool climate wines, excellent local foods, and authentic country experiences. A very popular event, the National Cherry Festival, takes place each year in December and features a street parade, the Cherry Festival Ball, heritage train rides, and a fantastic farmers’ market.
