Murray Bridge may have turned on some cool weather for us during the rally, but the members of the local community made up for it with their warm welcome to our club members. Signs on the town’s entrances welcoming our members to the area made everyone feel at ease from the onset. We must thank the Rural City of Murray Bridge and Mildy Raveane in particular for these.The cooperation we received from the Show Society in allowing members to park up prior to and following the rally was much appreciated.

Unity College was an excellent venue for the rally and the staff were happy to hand over their school to us for the duration of the event. Particular thanks must go to Phil Zanker and Wayne Gehling for their assistance in allowing us to make the maximum use of their facility. The ground staff were always on hand to assist us, specifically with the use of their forklift to move things around. The IT staff were readily available to assist when needed also. Happy hour under the ‘sail’ was enjoyed by all who participated in the daily activity; members huddled under the gas heaters provided by the school and they also managed to clear out their wine stocks.

The Member Benefit Tours that were introduced at this rally were an amazing success with roughly half of the rally attendees taking part in the tours to Hahndorf and Melba’s Chocolate Factory.

Our Fluro Friday Ball was an outstanding affair with everyone attending and getting into the Fluro Theme with bright clothing and glowing accessories.

As with all anniversary rallies the birthday cake was thoroughly enjoyed by those attending morning tea on the Tuesday of the rally. McCue’s Bakery put together more than 800 cupcakes to resemble the Rural City of Murray Bridge town sign.

Once again our willing band of volunteers worked together as a team to ensure that those attending were provided with a well organised event. They were ably assisted by the staff from NHQ.

Having paved areas to move around on was a benefi t with the amount of rain we received. Being able to get to the various venues without slipping and sliding was a bonus. Unfortunately, the inclement weather did cause a few minor delays on our entry days and also resulted in damage to the school sports fields as the vehicles were sited.

The many activities provided during the rally were all well attended and enjoyed by our members.The volunteers involved in the management of these are to be congratulated on their efforts. It is the hard work of these volunteers that lead to the success of any event.

The breakfast on the pack-up day provided by Unity College Pedal Prix parents was a wonderful way to conclude another successful anniversary rally.
